Flunkyball tournament

Take part in the biggest Flunkyball tournament the campus has ever seen and show what you've got! Different teams compete against each other in the popular drinking game. Fun, excitement and team spirit take centre stage here. Take part and fight for the title of Flunkyball champion! Cheers and good luck!

When and where?

On Friday, 12 July 2024 on the grounds of the Poppelsdorf campus.
Please report to the match management from 21:00. We will then start the games at 22:15!

Procedure

Before the tournament starts, you appoint a team captain. This captain registers your team at the Flunkyball stand. At the start of the game, he/she will leave a photo ID and will then receive all drink tokens and a routing slip for the preliminary round. Only your team captain can collect further drink tokens, e.g. for the final round or penalty drinks, and only he/she pays for all drinks collected at the end.

In the preliminary round , your team will compete against a total of three other teams. You will receive a routing slip from us in which you enter your games and their outcome. There is no fixed allocation of which teams you have to play against - you choose your opponents yourself. To ensure that the allocation of teams works well, please bring your team captain to the Flunkyball stand as soon as you are free and can no longer find an opposing team.
As soon as you have completed all your games, please hand in your routing slip at the Flunkyball stand.

If there are up to 16 participating teams, there will be a semi-final and final . If more teams register, we may also organise a quarter-final .
The teams that have won the most games in the preliminary round will take part in the final rounds. The division will be organised by us. We will inform you via loudspeaker announcements.
If you take part in a final match, please send your:n team captain to the Flunkyball stand to get more drink tokens.

Drinks

Unfortunately, you are not allowed to bring your own drinks. However, we will provide you with drinks at a very fair preferential price of just €3.00 per 0.5 litre can. You can choose between Kölsch, Pilsner or draught soda.

We want you to have a good time! You can decide at any time whether you want to start with alcoholic beer or non-alcoholic Fassbrause!

To speed things up: Before the start of the tournament, the team captain of the team will leave a photo ID with the match organiser and will then receive the drink tokens without having to pay directly. After the end of the game, the photo ID can be collected and the team captain pays for all beers drunk after the preliminary round for the entire team. Unfortunately, we cannot accept individual payments so that payment can be made quickly.

Who can take part?

We explicitly invite students as well, but not only! The only rule: You must be 6 to 8 people in a team.

All participants must be at least 18 years old at the time of the event.

The rules are the rules

So that we all have fun.

The basic rule is: Chill, it's just a game! We want to have fun and not get lost in unnecessary discussions. If you have any disagreements, come to the match organiser and we'll sort the problem out together.
We look forward to fair, fun games!

Game set-up

The fields are already marked on campus with a centre point (for the bottle) and two lines (for the teams). You will receive a bottle and a ball from us - no other game items are allowed.
Each player starts with a 0.5 litre cold drink - either a beer or a draught soda. Please note: Drinks brought from home are not permitted.

Game procedure

Players take it in turns to throw the ball at the bottle in the centre of the pitch.

Assume team A throws at the bottle in the centre. If it is hit, team B must put the bottle back up and return behind its own team line. Team A may drink during this time. Crossing the team line must be signalled by team B with a loud "STOP" - at this moment team A must stop drinking. When crossing the line, the bottle must be in the centre.

The teams take turns.

The winner is the team that finishes all their drinks first. This must be proven by turning the can upside down - no more liquid may come out of the can (a few drops are okay!).

Penalty drinks

Penalty drinks are awarded in the following situations:

  • Whose drink is knocked over, their team must drink a penalty drink in addition to the knocked over drink.
  • If you turn over your drink even though it is not empty, your team must drink a penalty drink.
  • Anyone who does not stop drinking immediately despite the "STOP" call must drink a penalty drink.

Important here: Not every member of the team is penalised with a penalty drink - of course there is only one penalty drink. However, the penalty drink can always be shared within the team and is not tied to one person.
